Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Gio Driggers and Trey Paffenroth Lead Heide Trask to Victory

Heide Trask won against East Bladen last Tuesday with 61 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Heide Trask Titans snuck past the South Columbus Stallions with a 61-57 win. The victory was nothing new for the Titans as they're now sitting on three straight.

Leading Heide Trask to victory were Trey Paffenroth and Gio Driggers. Paffenroth went 9 for 15 on his way to 20 points in addition to five assists and five boards, while Driggers dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. What's more, Driggers also racked up two steals, the most he's had since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Trey Cheatam, who posted eight points.

Heide Trask is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for South Columbus, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heide Trask will welcome North Brunswick at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Columbus, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Whiteville at 7:30 p.m. on January 21st.
