The Raymondville Bearkats were the 71-65 winner over the La Feria Lions when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Raymondville took a hard 59-43 fall against La Feria on Friday. While losing is never fun, Raymondville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1383rd, while La Feria is ranked 689th).
Despite the loss, Raymondville still got an impressive performance from Jacob Garza, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 53.5% of Raymondville's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colt Cavazos, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Raymondville's loss dropped their record down to 11-19. As for La Feria, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-7.
Raymondville will take on Harmony School of Innovation at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Harmony School of Innovation comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last eight games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for La Feria, they will be playing at home against Grulla at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grulla is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
