Make it six blowout wins for the Gulf Breeze Dolphins this season. They took their game on the road on Monday with ease, bagging a 52-15 victory over Central. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 26-6.
Gulf Breeze's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lila Jacobs led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Jacobs is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Piper Tieman, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds.
Central's loss came despite strong showings from Autumn Boutwell and Gracie Jernigan. Boutwell scored eight points, while Jernigan scored no points along with seven rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Central struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
The victory makes it two in a row for Gulf Breeze and bumps their season record up to 14-6. As for Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.
Gulf Breeze will head out on the road to take on Milton at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Milton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Gulf Breeze is ranked 74th). As for Central, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Jay at 6:00 p.m.
