While Hatley put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Smithville. Logan Brown made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Hatley got a massive performance out of Brayden Pyron, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Pyron has posted since back in April of 2024. Tristan Hendrix was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Hatley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Smithville only posted an OBP of .158.
Hatley's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Smithville, they dropped their record down to 0-11 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hatley will square off against East Union at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Smithville, they will take on Okolona at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
