The Lumberton Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They fell to Scotland 44-38. Lumberton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Scotland apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2021.
Despite the loss, Lumberton still got an impressive performance from Jaiden Shephard, who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds. Shephard scored a full 31.6% of Lumberton's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Damian Robinson, who scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
Scotland had a senior duo take command as Jaquez Caldwell scored 17 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals and Dylan Lampley scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds. The game was Caldwell's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tashad Russell, who scored 3 points along with 6 assists and 6 rebounds.
Lumberton has fallen quite a ways from their 24-6 record last season and are now at 0-3. As for Scotland, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Lumberton will head out on the road to face off against Scotland at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Scotland, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Douglas Byrd at 7:30 p.m.
