The Owings Mills Golden Eagles struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Friday (the Kenwood Bluebirds were 22% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Owings Mills had to suffer through a rough 59-30 loss at the hands of Kenwood. Owings Mills has not had much luck with Kenwood recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Owings Mills lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Francois Bangoura, who scored seven points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Marcus Nelson, who scored ten points.
It was another big night for Austin Mbuyi, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds for Kenwood. The contest was Mbuyi's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Bookman, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds.
Owings Mills now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Kenwood, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-8.
Owings Mills will face off against Towson on Monday. Towson knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Owings Mills likes a good challenge. As for Kenwood, they will be playing at home against Oakland Mills at 5:45 p.m. on Monday.
