The Delran Bears will face off against Gloucester County Tech at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Delran is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Delran needed a bit of extra time to put away Cinnaminson. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Pirates. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Bears have posted against the Pirates since May 2, 2019.
Mary Masterson spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Gemma DeJoseph was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Arianna Martinez, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Gloucester County Tech fell victim to Steinert and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Spartans, falling 10-0. Considering the last time Gloucester County Tech couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.
Delran pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Gloucester County Tech, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Delran hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .377. However, it's not like Gloucester County Tech struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
