Hampden is 8-2 against Camden Hills since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Broncos will challenge the Windjammers at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hampden is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Maine's top teams: Mount Desert Island, who was ranked 15th at the time (Hampden was ranked 14th). The Broncos put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 12-2 win on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for the Broncos as they're now sitting on three straight.
Kiera Gabric was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Mariah Coon, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Camden Hills made sure to put some runs up on the board against Oceanside on Friday. The Windjammers were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Mariners. With that win, the Windjammers brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Charlotte McGreevy made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. McGreevy was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles.
In other batting news, Thea Laukka was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Adriana Pedro was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Camden Hills, bringing their record up to 4-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Hampden, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Hampden skirted past Camden Hills 2-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Broncos since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
