Riverview is 2-8 against Airport since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Pirates will venture away from home to square off against the Jets at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Riverview beats Airport with 17 runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Everything went the Pirates' way against Grosse Ile on Monday as they made off with a 17-2 victory. The win was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on three straight.

Olivia Salinas and Makayla Raymond made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Salinas pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Raymond tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Salinas has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Salinas got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs, while Raymond went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Salinas has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Brooklyn Klein was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Alexis Ferrara was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Riverview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .455 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Airport hadn't done well against Milan recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Jets blew past the Big Reds 9-2.
Brooklyn Martin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Martin was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Tilley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Brenna Baker, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Airport has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Riverview, their record is now 22-7-1.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Riverview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .414. However, it's not like Airport struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Riverview came up short against Airport in their previous meeting back in April, falling 10-5. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
