The Satellite Scorpions can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against Merritt Island by a score of 38-25. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Satellite also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2022.
Satellite's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isabella Burnett, who scored five points along with six rebounds and five steals. Burnett continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Sydney Logsdon was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six assists and six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Merritt Island lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaliah Jones. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and seven blocks. Jones is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Valeria Irizzary, who scored five points along with four steals.
Satellite's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12. As for Merritt Island, their defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-15.
Satellite will head out on the road to take on the Hustlers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Melbourne Central Catholic will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Merritt Island, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Merritt Island Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Mustangs in Florida (the Cougars are ranked 208th, while the Mustangs are ranked 597th).
