Adyson Ordway was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February of 2024.
In other batting news, Taylor Passalacqua was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Leila Hermosillo, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
Deer Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Thunderbird). They were the clear victors by a 25-3 margin over Moon Valley on Thursday. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Evan Turner and Addison Hodge made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Turner pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Hodge struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those zero hits allowed gave her a new career-low. At bat, Turner scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Hodge scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Thunderbird got a massive performance out of Madelyn Vasquez, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Brooke Casey was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.
Deer Valley's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Thunderbird, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Deer Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Thunderbird struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Deer Valley's way against Thunderbird in their previous matchup last Thursday, as Deer Valley made off with a 10-3 victory. Does Deer Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Thunderbird turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
