The Calhoun Red Devils will take on the Hannan Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Calhoun has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Calhoun took an 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Roane County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Red Devils came out on top against the Raiders on Tuesday by a score of 10-9 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Red Devils have posted since March 31st.
Brylie Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and eight unearned) runs on eight hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaleigha Morris, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Raylee Cunningham, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Hannan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 15-5 to Phelps. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly ten runs.
Cj Akers made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Hannan's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Calhoun, their win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-19.
Hannan's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Calhoun has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Hannan, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Calhoun keep running through batters, or will the Wildcats buck the trend?
Calhoun got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Hannan by a conclusive 17-1 score. Do the Red Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
