The Arrowhead Christian Eagles suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. Their rough 72-50 defeat to Aquinas might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Arrowhead Christian has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Arrowhead Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Clayton Mpiana. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Mpiana is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Gavin Skipper, who scored eight points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Aquinas to victory, but perhaps none more so than Igor Masalov, who scored 22 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. John Odiambo was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Arrowhead Christian's loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Aquinas, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-11.
Arrowhead Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Ontario Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Ontario Christian is ranked 268th, while Arrowhead Christian is ranked 256th). Aquinas won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Great Oak at 3:00 p.m. on January 13th.
