Harbor had lost seven straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 2-11 to make it eight. They came up short against the San Lorenzo Valley Cougars, falling 14-4. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, with their most recent defeat being a 15-4 loss on April 14th.
Harbor saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sofia Monroe, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
As for San Lorenzo Valley, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-8-1. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
On San Lorenzo Valley's side, Skylar Cloyd was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cloyd has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one hit in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooke Reed, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Ida Robertello was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Harbor has already played their next game, a 16-0 loss against Aptos on the 5th. As for San Lorenzo Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Soquel on the 5th.
