On Thursday, 2024 welcomed Cristo Rey with a 50-25 loss courtesy of Liberty Charter. Cristo Rey was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-11.
Liberty Charter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joel Bray, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Duke Dengerink, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Cristo Rey and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Liberty Charter, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-9.
Cristo Rey is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Southern California Yeshiva at 4:00 p.m. on January 9th. As for Liberty Charter, they will be playing at home against Ocean View Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
