The Perquimans Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Bertie Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Perquimans is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
While it was all tied up 26-26 at halftime, Perquimans was not quite Tarboro's equal in the second half on Friday. They took a 58-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Nyquan Riddick, who scored ten points along with four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shavoris Lewis Jr., who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bertie waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Hertford County by a score of 51-38.
Perquimans has not been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season. As for Bertie, their victory bumped their record up to 18-3.
Perquimans was taken down by Bertie 85-36 when the teams last played back in January. Can Perquimans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
