Del Norte hasn't had much luck against Pagosa Springs recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Del Norte Tigers will host the Pagosa Springs Pirates at 5:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Del Norte comes in on five and Pagosa Springs on four.
Del Norte is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Custer County 54-13 on Friday. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Bobcats are ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Del Norte found their leader in sophomore Emma Parra, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 16 points and five steals. The game was Parra's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Hadley Leggett was another key player, putting up eight points and six boards.
Del Norte smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Pagosa Springs' contest on Saturday was close up to the half, which is when they kicked things up a notch. They put the hurt on Montezuma-Cortez with a sharp 69-47 victory. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.
Del Norte better keep an eye on Elizabeth Currier. She was instrumental in Pagosa Springs' win, scoring 16 points and six assists. The dominant performance gave Currier a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Kylie Ketchum, who posted ten points and three steals.
Del Norte pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 17.7 points per game. As for Pagosa Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Del Norte has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Pagosa Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.5 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Del Norte took a serious blow against Pagosa Springs in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 58-15. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Currier, who put up 26 points and three steals. Now that Del Norte knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
