The Montgomery Academy Eagles waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They snuck past Wetumpka with a 61-57 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Montgomery Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Skyler Stovall, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Stovall hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brewer Welch, who scored 14 points along with seven assists and six steals.
Montgomery Academy is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. As for Wetumpka, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season.
Montgomery Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Wetumpka will be playing at home against the Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
