Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the South Fork Cubs walked away with it. They claimed a resounding 62-30 win over California School for the Deaf at home. The win was nothing new for South Fork as they're now sitting on five straight.
Wesley Way had a dynamite game for South Fork, rushing for 120 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries. Way was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 51 yards. Another player making a difference was Shevy Bero-Vanmeter , who rushed for 24 yards and three touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was South Fork's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. In that department, Boden Bero-Vanmeter was the leader with two sacks.
Aiden Shupe and Jaden Dingel certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Shupe rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns, while Dingel gained 102 total yards and two touchdowns.
South Fork's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points per game. As for California School for the Deaf, their loss dropped their record down to 9-2.
South Fork will head out on the road to face off against Stuart Hall at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Stuart Hall's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last seven matches. California School for the Deaf does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
