Butler's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reece Starnes led the charge by going 7-for-10 en route to 21 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Starnes has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah White, who put up 11 points and five boards.
Meanwhile, Charlotte Catholic had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Wildcats 80-29. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 20 points or more this season.
Butler better focus on containing Jack Siegel and Chris Eagan as the pair were huge in Charlotte Catholic's win. Siegel earned 11 points and six rebounds, while Eagan went 6-for-9 on his way to 14 points and seven boards. Eagan is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 52% in the last 11 games he's played. John Reiley Gregory was another key player, going 5-for-6 to rack up 11 points and five rebounds.
Charlotte Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive games.
Charlotte Catholic pushed their record up to 20-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.7 points over those games. As for Butler, their record now sits at 14-11.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Butler has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 28.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Charlotte Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.7 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Butler couldn't quite finish off Charlotte Catholic in their previous matchup two weeks ago and fell 52-50. Can Butler avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
