Softball Recap: Twentynine Palms Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Twentynine Palms hadn't done well against Coachella Valley recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Wildcats blew past the Mighty Arabs 12-4. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Anisa Youso and Jenica Silvas were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Youso pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Silvas didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Youso scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Silvas fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those two runs gave Youso a new career-high.

In other batting news, Briana Johnson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Maya Beltz was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

Twentynine Palms was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Twentynine Palms pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games. As for Coachella Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.
