Hanover and Hollis-Brookline are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Bears will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Cavaliers at 4:30 p.m. The last three games Hanover has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Wednesday just wasn't the day for Hanover's offense. They fell just short of Souhegan by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. The Bears have struggled against the Sabers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hollis-Brookline). Everything went their way against Sanborn Regional on Wednesday as they made off with a 17-4 win. The victory was nothing new for the Cavaliers as they're now sitting on four straight.
Connor Gryniewicz made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Gryniewicz was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Matthew Howie looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Hollis-Brookline got a massive performance out of Matthew Bergin, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Bergin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Thomas Howie, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Hollis-Brookline was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .656. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Hollis-Brookline's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Hanover, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
