The Manchester Blue Devils had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.1 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They really took it to Greenville for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-45 victory at home. Manchester has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 22 points or more this season.
Manchester's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daryus Bryant led the charge by scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jayden Terry, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Greenville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Quen Reeves, who scored 12 points. Reeves continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Elijah Frazier was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four blocks.
Greenville struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Manchester pulled down 30 offensive rebounds.
Manchester pushed their record up to 14-5 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.4 points per game. As for Greenville, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.
Manchester and the Bulldogs will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Macon County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matchups -- so hopefully the Blue Devils likes a good challenge. As for Greenville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Schley County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully the Patriots likes a good challenge.
