Cordova extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-11. They lost 14-4 to the Kennedy Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-7 back in March.
Cordova saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Tarpley-Cruz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Khloe Lee was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Kennedy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-10-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games.
On Kennedy's side, Alyssa V made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. V was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nina R, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Alyssa L, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
Cordova has already played their next matchup, a 15-7 defeat against McClatchy on the 24th. As for Kennedy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-3 loss against Antelope on the 27th.
