There's no place like home for the Atkinson County Rebels, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They strolled past Charlton County with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 61-47. For Atkinson County, this counts as revenge for the 59-45 loss Charlton County walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Atkinson County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ja'Kari Northcutt, who scored 20 points. Savanna Williams was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Several Indians players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trenity Hamilton, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Hamilton is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rihanna Battle, who scored 15 points along with four steals.
Atkinson County's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for Charlton County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.
Atkinson County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Worth County at 4:00 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Worth County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. As for Charlton County, they will head out on the road to square off against Echols County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Echols County is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
