Their defense stepped up to hand the Athenians a 5-0 shutout. The Mavericks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by three goals or more this season.
Avon's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7-3. As for McCutcheon, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2.
Avon skirted past McCutcheon 2-1 when the teams last played back in September of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Avon since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
