The Portsmouth Christian Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 35-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Atlantic Shores Christian. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Portsmouth Christian of the 26-20 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Adrianna Reynolds, who scored nine points along with 15 rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cloee Comberiati, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Portsmouth Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Portsmouth Christian's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-11. As for Atlantic Shores Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Portsmouth Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Greenbrier Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Atlantic Shores Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Christchurch School at 1:30 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Christchurch School focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Thursday.
