The Delta Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Pendleton Heights Arabians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Delta proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 34) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 41-39 victory over Wapahani. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since March 15, 2025.

Chase Phillips and Walker Johnson were among the main playmakers for Delta as the former posted six points and seven boards and the latter scored nine points and six rebounds. Johnson is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryan Lynch, who put up nine points.
Meanwhile, Pendleton Heights faced Shelbyville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Arabians came out on top in a nail-biter against the Golden Bears, sneaking past 51-49. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Cooper Sims and Caden Claxton. Sims had a solid game and earned 15 points. Meanwhile, Claxton did his best for the losing side, putting up eight points along with nine boards and five steals.
Pendleton Heights pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points over those games. As for Delta, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Delta has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Pendleton Heights struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 25.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Delta didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Pendleton Heights in their previous matchup back in January of 2025, but they still walked away with a 44-40 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
