After two games on the road, Harlingen is heading back home. They will take on the Los Fresnos Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Harlingen can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent match on Wednesday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 77-43 win over Rivera. Given Harlingen's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Rivera is ranked 567th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Luis Rodriguez, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Barajas, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Los Fresnos came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against San Benito by a score of 74-63.
It was another big night for Gio Galvan, who almost dropped a triple-double on 20 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Andrew Munoz, who scored 19 points.
Harlingen's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 26-3. As for Los Fresnos, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Harlingen hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 58.9 points per game. However, it's not like Los Fresnos struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 68.1 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Harlingen didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Los Fresnos in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 61-57 win. Will Harlingen repeat their success, or does Los Fresnos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
