The Mount Dora Christian Academy Bulldogs will take on the Martin County Tigers at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Mount Dora Christian Academy was handed a 11-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Umatilla 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Mount Dora Christian Academy has posted since April 20, 2024.

Mount Dora Christian Academy got a great performance from Ethan Priest as he struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts Priest has posted since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Britton Wise was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Jayden Wise also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Mount Dora Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Martin County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Dr. Joaquin Garcia, sneaking past 6-5. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by just one run.
Joseph Cuccurullo tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Will Perry, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Stone Preston was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Martin County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. Mount Dora Christian Academy's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-8.
Mount Dora Christian Academy came up short against Martin County in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 3-0. Can Mount Dora Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
