Lexington is 2-8 against North Rowan since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Lexington Yellowjackets will head out on the road to face off against the North Rowan Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Lexington posted their biggest win yet this season on Friday. They blew past Thomasville, posting a 54-16 victory at home.
Lily Ervin was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jayla Cowan, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, North Rowan came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Salisbury 73-47. North Rowan has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 26 points or more this season.
Lexington's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for North Rowan, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3.
Things could have been worse for Lexington, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-41 loss to North Rowan in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Lexington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
