The Hialeah Gardens Gladiators will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Braddock Bulldogs on February 10th. Hialeah Gardens knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Braddock likes a good challenge.
With a playoff game on the line, Hialeah Gardens rose to the challenge on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 70-49 win. Hialeah Gardens has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 21 points or more this season.
Sebastian Pupo was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 23 points and nine assists. He is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Nick Perez, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Braddock was able to grind out a solid win over Doral Academy on Thursday, taking the game 53-43. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Braddock has scored all season.
Hialeah Gardens is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Braddock, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-7.
Hialeah Gardens was able to grind out a solid win over Braddock when the teams last played last Tuesday, winning 92-81. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hialeah Gardens since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
