Baseball Recap: Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Triumphs

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton proved they can win big on Monday (they won by seven) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Mountain Lake/Comfrey 5-4. The Knights haven't had any issues with Mountain Lake/Comfrey recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Gavin Schreurs made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Schreurs wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Chandler, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Mountain Lake/Comfrey, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 10-0 victory against Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin on the 26th. As for Mountain Lake/Comfrey, they will face off against Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
