The Southwest Leadership Academy Rams entered their tilt with the Empower College Prep Wolf with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Southwest Leadership Academy came out on top against Empower College Prep by a score of 68-61 on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Serious Sykes, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 21 rebounds. Sykes is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Uriel Poblete was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Southwest Leadership Academy pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Empower College Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Southwest Leadership Academy will head out on the road to face off against Heritage Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Heritage Academy is ranked 63rd, while Southwest Leadership Academy is ranked 82nd). As for Empower College Prep, Empower College Prep and Heritage Academy Gateway will face off at 4:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
