WACO, Texas - Despite trailing
University (Waco, Texas) 15 points,
Crowley (Texas) came back strong to notch a 64-42 win over
University (Waco, Texas) Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown in the second quarter, the Eagles were up 28-22 at the half.
Crowley grew its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. CHS scored two times in the third, including once on a
Matt Marner touchdown pass to
Tayvon Glover.
Marner was one of the big reasons the Eagles got the victory, as he threw four touchdowns.
Marner was the top performer for Crowley. The senior quarterback threw four touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 12 touchdowns on the season.
When the two teams played each other last season, CHS came away with a 49-0 victory.
University (1-8) will play a 4A Region I District 8 game against Cleburne next week, while Crowley (8-1) will take on Joshua also in a 4A Region I District 8 game.
