Basketball Game Preview: Valiant Cross Academy Warriors vs. Wiregrass Kings

The Valiant Cross Academy Warriors and the Wiregrass Kings will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Valiant Cross Academy has eight straight victories, Wiregrass has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Thursday, everything went Valiant Cross Academy's way against Trinity Christian as Valiant Cross Academy made off with a 72-51 win. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Valiant Cross Academy found their leader in sophomore Deshawn Hall, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Hall has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 33 times he's played. Another player making a difference was James Cosby, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Valiant Cross Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive rebounds in 36 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Wiregrass was beaten by Calvary Christian 78-45 on Friday.

Valiant Cross Academy pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Wiregrass, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.

Everything came up roses for Valiant Cross Academy against Wiregrass in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as the squad secured a 76-49 win. Does Valiant Cross Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wiregrass turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
