After flying high against the Kimberton Waldorf Bulls on Wednesday, the Liguori Academy Falcons came back down to earth. Liguori Academy opened the new year with a less-than-successful 56-45 loss to New Foundations. While losing is never fun, Liguori Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 565th, while New Foundations is ranked 255th).
Naiem Scott-Allen and Rydee Miller certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Scott-Allen scored 15 points, while Miller scored 11 points. Scott-Allen scored a full 33.3% of Liguori Academy's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Daviel Calderon, who scored six points.
Liguori Academy bumped their record down to 4-7 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for New Foundations, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-2.
Liguori Academy will square off against Bethel Baptist Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Bethel Baptist Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 back in December of 2023. As for New Foundations, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against The City School at 4:00 p.m.
