This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Archbishop Spalding (ranked 8th in MD) and Friendship Collegiate Academy (ranked 3rd in DC). Archbishop Spalding strolled past Friendship Collegiate Academy with points to spare, taking the game 28 - 8. Even if it didn't bump Archbishop Spalding up the rankings, the win at least kept the team from dropping.
No Stoppin 'Em
Franklin not only got the result it was looking for last game, but the team outscored its opponent Perry Hall in every quarter. Franklin blew past Perry Hall 56 - 30. Two standouts for Franklin were junior Vernon Brown iii and senior Elijah Solomon; the former threw for 163 yards and three touchdowns while the latter found the end zone on one run and one reception. The combined 86-point effort made this the highest-scoring game in the power rankings for the week.
Game of Inches
Loyola Blakefield made away with the most precarious win of the week when it squared off against Gilman. The game was as close as could be, but Loyola Blakefield ended up on top with a 7 - 6 over Gilman. Loyola Blakefield and Gilman were a much more even match than Loyola Blakefield's previous opponent, giving the fans a heck of a game.
