The Goleman Gators had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 71-59 victory over MAST Academy on Tuesday. The victory was just what Goleman needed coming off of a 91-43 defeat in their prior contest.
Goleman was led to victory by Michael Gonzalez and Jonathan Acevedo. Gonzalez almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds, while Acevedo scored 12 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Ewing, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Goleman's victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for MAST Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Goleman and the Tornadoes will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Booker T. Washington is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.7 points per game this season. As for MAST Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
