La Serna extended the longest winning streak in Del Rio this week by beating Burroughs, 55-7. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Santa Fe moved up to 242 from 341 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Chiefs were able to move up by defeating Diamond Ranch 31-28.
Christian Lara threw for 264 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Frankie Palmer was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 92 yards on 3 carries as La Serna beat the Panthers. Teammate Anthony Garcia added to the ground attack by rushing for 63 yards.
Leading Del Rio in both passing and receiving yards, Dave Pierson's team's Lara and Takata have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-10 quarterback Lara has thrown for 2,068 yards this season, while Takata has 53 catches for 1,124 yards. El Rancho's AARON ESCARENO leads the league in rushing yards with 847.
Going into this week's contest against Diamond Bar, Margarito Beltran's team's Palmer needs 161 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. So far this year, Palmer has thrown for 1,839 yards with 18 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.
The Chiefs and Diamond Ranch played the closest game in the league this week, with the Chiefs eventually emerging with a 31-28 victory. Lara ran for 62 yards in the win.
