Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school basketball. The tradition continues to close out the 2024-25 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Scottie Adkinson of
Webster Groves is the 2024-25 Missouri MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 6-foot-2 sophomore guard led the Statesmen to a 27-5 record and the Class 5 state championship.
For the season, Adkinson averaged 24.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals per game. He shot 62.1 percent from the field, 42.3 percent from 3-point range and 88.7 percent from the free throw line.

In a 67-56 victory over Summit Christian Academy (Lee's Summit) in the Class 5 state title game, Adkinson pumped in 29 points, eight rebounds and three assists while shooting 9 of 16 from the field and 10 of 11 from the free throw line.
Through two seasons, Adkinson has piled up 1,223 points. He averaged 15.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists per outing last season as a freshman.
Regarded as the No. 38 prospect in the Class of 2027 according to
247Sports, Adkinson holds offers from Lindenwood University, Illinois, Missouri, Southeast Missouri State, Saint Louis and West Virginia.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 8. Past selections include 2023-24 All-NBA picks Devin Booker (2014), Jalen Brunson (2014, 2015), Anthony Davis (2011), Kevin Durant (2006), Anthony Edwards (2019) and Jayson Tatum (2014, 2015, 2016).
