Heartland I recap October 8, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in Heartland I this week, Danville beat Jersey Shore 24-7. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Ironmen.
Shikellamy took down Warrior Run 50-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Danville's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Weston Baylor threw for 71 and 1 touchdown and Evan Tanner had 54 yards receiving. On the ground Sam Dressler contributed 120 yards. Zack Kozick helped Danville's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 10 yards.
Jim Keiser's team's dynamic duo of Baylor and Tanner proved tough for the Bulldogs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Kozick helped Danville's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 10 yards.
Utoa Agae-naipo was a key player and the best on defense this week as Jersey Shore lost to the Ironmen. The 5-foot-10 senior racked up 3 sacks.
Logan English was a passing and rushing force as Tom Gravish's team lost to Danville. He completed 11 passes for 133 yards and also ran for 37 yards. English's favorite target this week was Brody Smith, who caught 2 passes for 30 yards.
The Bulldogs' English and Smith have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback English has thrown for 799 yards this season, while Smith has 26 catches for 268 yards. Dressler from the Ironmen leads the league in rushing with 878 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Milton takes on Selinsgrove. The Black Panthers are currently in second, while the Seals are in third.
