Chatfield scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Lakewood, 29-6. At the time, the Tigers was ranked 12th in the state, while the Chargers was 34th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Lakewood, who took down 12th ranked Lakewood, 29-6. Kyle Winkler threw for 170 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
Arapahoe's dynamic duo of Taven Sparks and Ethan Brunhofer proved tough for Columbine to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Sparks threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns and Brunhofer had 106 yards receiving. Michael Babb helped Arapahoe's passing attack out by catching five balls for 60 yards.
Bernard McDondle was the most productive running back in 5A Super 6 this week. He ran for 338 yards on 27 carries as the Rebels lost to the Rebels. Teammate Michael Burns added to the ground attack by rushing for 80 yards.
6-foot-4 quarterback Sparks of Arapahoe is the league leader in passing yards this season with 688. He has also thrown six touchdowns. On the ground, Columbine's McDondle has rushed for 923 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Kevin Butts. The Bear Creek star has 15 catches for 299 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Mullen and Mike Campbell's team. The Mustangs enters the contest ranked fourth in the state, while the Warriors ranks 18th.
Andy Lowry's team's McDondle needs only 77 yards against Chatfield next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
The Rebels were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in 5A Super 6. Columbine beat Arapahoe 48-36 earlier in the week.
