While Gilmer County's win against Calhoun wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Titans won by a run and slipped past the Red Devils 4-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 back in March.

Braylon Mencer was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Mencer wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Ratliff, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Gilmer County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.

Gilmer County's record is now 9-2. As for Calhoun, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-8 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gilmer County will square off against Greenbrier West at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Calhoun, they will challenge Braxton County at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
