After soaring to 55 points the game before, the Leon Lions were a bit more limited in their matchup on Monday. They were beaten by Buchholz 71-20. Leon was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 59-11.
Leon's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Tanner Owens, who scored eight points, and Mary grace Parker who scored eight points along with two steals.
Jamison Cardwell was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points for Buchholz. Cardwell hasn't dropped below 16 points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Booth, who scored 14 points.
Leon has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season. As for Buchholz, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.
Leon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Buchholz, they will square off against Gainesville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Florida (Buchholz is ranked 164th, while Gainesville is ranked 139th).
