The Panther Valley Panthers were the 49-47 winner over the Tamaqua Blue Raiders when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Panther Valley's tough 72-52 defeat to the Blue Raiders on Friday might stick with them for a while. That's two games in a row now that Panther Valley has lost by exactly 20 points.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chase Weaver, who scored 17 points. Logan Fisher was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Noah Mateyak continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Tamaqua, going 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 0 assists. Mateyak hasn't dropped below 18 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Ansbach, who almost dropped a double-double on nine rebounds and 11 assists.
Panther Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season. As for Tamaqua, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-10.
Panther Valley will head out on the road to square off against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lehighton is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Tamaqua does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
