The Denver South Ravens entered their tilt with the Dakota Ridge Eagles with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Denver South narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Eagles 62-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Dominic Rhoades-Martinez, who scored 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Ford, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Dakota Ridge lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Ethan Berninger. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Berninger is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last nine games he's played. Nathan Esau was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Denver South's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Dakota Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Denver South won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Thunderbirds at 12:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Hinkley is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Dakota Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against the Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully D'Evelyn focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Wednesday.
