They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 45-24 walloping at the hands of Fairmont Heights. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Crossland in their matchups with Fairmont Heights: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Crossland still got an impressive performance from Kendra Gaton, who scored 22 points.
Fairmont Heights' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Angela Green, who scored 16 points along with seven steals and six assists. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Green has scored at least a third of Fairmont Heights' points. Amaya May was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 14 rebounds and five blocks.
Crossland's loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-13. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.9 points per game. As for Fairmont Heights, their win bumped their record up to 4-10.
Crossland will be playing at home against International High School at Largo at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Maryland (Crossland is ranked 264th, while International High School at Largo is ranked 279th). As for Fairmont Heights, they will head out on the road to challenge Northwestern at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Fairmont Heights focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Thursday.
