Lawrence Free State had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Olathe North Eagles 2-1. That's more bragging rights for the Firebirds, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Coincidentally, Lawrence Free State and Olathe North will both be playing Hays the next time they take the court. The Firebirds will head out to face the Indians at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Eagles will play them later in the day, at 11:00 a.m.
