The Lawrence North Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Zionsville Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Lawrence North barely beat North Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats blew past the Panthers 15-5 on Thursday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Tessa Kramer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ginger Strelow, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Victoria Guyse also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Lawrence North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Zionsville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over Fishers. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.
Like Lawrence North, Zionsville also got a great game from a two-way player: Leah Helton. She struck out eight batters over eight innings while giving up six earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. Helton was even better at the plate, going 4-for-6 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Hadley Bray and Sylvia Mudis did most of the damage at the plate: Bray went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Mudis got on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Kohler, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Zionsville's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Lawrence North, their record is now 4-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Lawrence North hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Zionsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Lawrence North took their win against Zionsville in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 20-12 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
